unsolvedpaw was hunting for herbs once more on the shadowclan border. partly because the swamp allowed many herbs to grow, but also because she was hoping to see daggerpaw. the grey and white she-cat dug in the mud for herbs.

daggerpaw padded anxiously towards the border, glancing around constantly. but he spotted unsolvedpaw right away and relaxed himself. hoping she didn't see his expression, he walked up casually to the edge, his head held high. "hey, unsolvedpaw." the gray tom greeted with a grin.

unsolvedpaw didn't try to hide her look of delight. the alabaster feline straightened up and bounded over to him. "hey, daggerpaw! how are you?" she asked cheerfully.

the tom was surprised to see how delighted the she-cat was to see him, but kept his expression the same. he was pretty excited to see her too. "good, now, how about you?" daggerpaw responded.

"oh, i'm great! starclan spoke to me to tell me who our leader would be!" the she-cat shared. usually she wasn't this animated but around daggerpaw she felt... different, more full of life maybe.

"that's great!" he said. "i'm doing pretty good too. i've had my ceremony and have been promoted to a pyro apprentice." daggerpaw said without moment's hesitation.

the tom rolled his eyes playfully. "yeah. i don't think i'd ever be able to do what you do though, unsolvedpaw." he said earnestly. "at least i'm not just ordinary now. besides, controlling fire is the coolest thing!" you could tell daggerpaw was getting excited, judging by the happiness in his illuminating gaze. he let his eyes fall to the ground, and found himself staring so interestingly at a twig laying at his paws. he set one paw on it, and flexed his claws. if only he knew how to make the twig ignite. narrowing his eyes in concentration, the tom set focus on the twig, imagining it lighting up. a flame sparked at the twig, and daggerpaw yipped with alarm as his paw suddenly began to burn intensely. he drew it to his maw and gave it a few strokes before turning back to the hot twig. the heat had caused the twig to become orange with flames, and a tiny fire had began to start. excitement struck the gray tom, and he began to draw his paw into the flame cautiously, feeling it. but the minute he did, the fire died out and the twig appeared to be normal again. (power discovery) surprise lit his gaze. "wow! i... i made that twig light up!" little did he know that the flaming twig was just an illusion. |

"cool!" unsolvedpaw chirped. it didn't surprise her as she knew of powers as a shaman apprentice. "but why isn't it warm?" she asked in confusion.

[yesh. great timing lilli. i was about to fuss piney for saying it was some other power not in the shop. and i was trying to figure out what she was talking about.]
he shrugged. "it seemed warm when i had my paw on it. it burnt my paw." daggerpaw then began examining his paw. it didn't look burnt, or as if anything had changed. "that's strange.... i thought it would have been burnt or something." the poor tom still didn't know that he had just witnessed another one of his powers, and that it was all just an illusion. |

unsolvedpaw narrowed her eyes. "touch it," she said suddenly. "i have an idea. trust me, it shouldn't hurt you. and if so, then as a pyro apprentice, you're gonna have to get used to burns," the alabaster and grey femme joked, stone grey eyes sparkling.

"oh, these silly burns don't bother me! it was just a shock, that's all." dagger said with a grin. he then put his paw on the non-illuminated twig and probed it. well, it was dry. and it didn't seem to be hot either. he'd expected it to have a slight spark or something, but nope, that was definitely an illusion. |

"yup," the she-cat agreed matter of factly. "you have the power to conjure illusions," she murmured. powers fasinated the she-cat so she had a good bit of knowledge of them.
