A clan living in a large forest. They climb tall trees to escape danger. They believe in rewarding good deeds and punishing bad ones. Code word is CherryForest.
History
A loner was running through the dry grass, running from his clan. They had trapped he and his kin in a fire, and all but he died. The dark brown tabby only managed to escape by climbing a small tree and running. The loner, Forest, ran for a moon to put distance between he and his ex-clan. He came to a lake a saw a pretty light-brown she-cat crying by the water. He so learned that her name was Cherry, and that her clan' scamp had flooded. Her kin drowned, and she left the clan. A few moons later, the pair had become mates and we're looking for a home. They wanted many trees so casualties might be avoided. They came to a forest, and decided it was a wonderful place to stay. Soon Cherry was expecting kits, so they made alliances to protect each other. That alliance turned into a clan when the kits were born. The clan, after their founder, was named ForestClan.
Territory
A large forest makes up ForestClan territory. A clearing near the center with few trees and a rocky outcrop is their camp. The Ancient Oak, used for ceremonies and meetings, stands in the center of camp. Hollowed out trees, dugouts and thorn bushes are dens for the cats. Close to the camp there is a flat stone large enough for thirty cats. This is where, every third full moon, the Council meets. Near the northern border, still inside territory, is the CherryPool. An unnaturally large cherry tree stands over a small cave. In it is a pool with deep green water and cherry blossoms. This is covered by a garden invisible substance. This is a sacred place and is used by Cherry Trees and Redwoods.
Beliefs
These cats believe that their dead ancestors live in the sky above the forest, watching them, guiding them and warning them. The common name for these spirits is the Ancient Roots, though they are also called the Ancients, the Unforgotten Souls and the Roots.
Tradition
There are five ceremonies all cats will take in their lives:
The Beginning of Life: Kits born in the last moon are named. They will join the main nursery and play with others, and find what they enjoy doing.
The Beginning of Training: Six moon old kits are given a job to train for by the Redwood and Spruce. An adult qualified in that field picks a kit to mentor after all ready kits are given a job. Any kits left wait a moon the first time, and become Stumps the second time.
The End if Training and the Beginning of Servitude: When an apprentice completes training, they become the rank they gave trained for. They will be this position six moons before they may attend a Council or become a Sycamore. They serve the clan until they are unable to continue doing so.
The End if Servitude: A cat, because of age or an overwhelming disability, becomes an Alder. They relax, give wisdom and are respected.
The End of Life: Any cats deceased in the last moon are remembered. Their body is given to their kin to bury.
The Council takes place every third moon. The Redwood, Sycamore, Cherry Tree, Cherry Tree Sprouts attend as well as representatives from the Spruce, Ivy, Oak, Juniper and Alder.
Every moon at midnight the Cherry Tree and Cherry Tree Sprouts, as well as the Redwood if they have not received their nine lives, go to the CherryPool to share youngest with their ancestors.
Prey and Predators
Prey: Birds, squirrels, rodents, fish.
Predators: Badgers, coyotes.
