gemmi padded back over to the freshkill pile and snatched up a small bird, trotting away to take cover under a tree. she then settled down to eat it.

Silentkit raced out of the nursery, her soft cheeks stained with tears. She was no longer crying, but her eyes were filled with fear and confusion. "Diamond!" she wailed.

Diamond looked at Silentkit. "What do you need?" She asked kindly, her blue eyes filled with concern for the kit.

"I had a dream," Silentkit mewed, "and apparently I have some kind of power where I can cast illusions." She paused for a moment to sniffle before finishing with, "Meadowblossom was one of my illusions and I didn't even know it."

Diamond's eyes widened in surprise. "I've heard of cats having powers before but never this power," she mewed. "Let's discuss this in my den, ok?"

Diamond padded into her den and turned to face the kit, her eyes filled with pity. It was always hard to lose someone close to you. "Ok. Show me your power, cast an illusion," Diamond instructed.

Silentkit nodded and almost immediately an extremely realistic 3D image of Meadowblossom appeared. "See?" the image mewed.

"A little," she mewed. She could make anything appear when she wanted it to, but sometimes random thoughts, like Meadowblossom, just appeared.

Diamond nodded. "You will eventually be able to control it, I'm sure," she mewed. And then she realized, if Meadowblossom wasn't real, then Silentkit was alone. "When you become apprenticed your mentor might be able to help you with that. But for now... are you going to be ok without Meadowblossom? I... I'd be happy to adopt you if you want."

Diamond hoped that the kit would agree, because Diamond thought that Silentkit was so sweet, cute, kind, and didn't deserve to be alone. Diamond and spotty hoped that the other cats in this clan could maybe do some training or something if they had apprentices...
