Blackheart trotted through the forest, a rabbit dangling from his jaws, an angry look in his eyes.
Hiddenbranch sprinted around the corner, slamming into the shade.
"Watch where your going!" Blackheart hissed, swiping his unsheathed claws at the tom's face. He growled and leaped on Hiddenbranch's back.
With a gasp, Hiddenbranch attempted to throw Blackheart off, but he was too big. Blood oozed from a wound on his side. He swiped at Blackheart, claws still sheathed, but when that didn't work, he unsheathed his claws and raked them across his clanmates back. His heart ached. His clanmate. He was attacking his clanmate. Maybe Whisper would understand that it was simply self defense. He winced as Blackheart wrapped his legs around the assesor, his claws sinking into Hiddenbranch's belly. He let out a yowl of pain and rolled over, squashing Blackheart.
Blackheart groaned as Hiddenbranch flipped over, pinning him down and clawing his sensitive belly. Pools of blood collected around the two, and Blackheart's vision became blurry.
Hiddenbranch collapsed.
Blackheart, with one last yowl, fell to the ground with a thud, his blood soaked pelt rippling as he took his last breath.
Both bodies lay still on the forest floor, a look of anger in Blackheart's glazed eyes and a look of fear and sadness in Hiddenbranch's.
