Lightningstar stood atop the high rock proudly, looking down upon his clan with a protective feeling surging through him. Although he had seemed rather distant before, now, standing among his clanmates he felt more at home again. "As you all know, I've returned from the moonstone and have received my nine lives, and name. And as it is known moon after moon, the most known ritual is to appoint a deputy before moonhigh. So I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ThunderClan is Sunheart."

Sunheart blinked. He was deputy? The orange tom didn't expect that. There were several great warriors in Thunderclan that were perfectly good for the position, and he didn't expect to be chosen. He took a deep breath and dipped his head to Lightningstar. "It will be my honor to be your deputy" he said to the leader.

"And I expect you will do your job well." Lightningstar said, dipping his head in response. He turned back to the clan and continued. "Also, I assume many of the other clans have decided on their leaders, deputies, and medicine cats. And it is approaching full moon. I plan on taking a visit to the residing clans to ask them about the annual gathering. Yes, I know we do not yet have a medicine cat of our own, and there shall be contests for whomever wishes to apply to that role. For now, I'd like a patrol to come with me to the other clans. Meeting dismissed." The orange tabby tom then leaped off the high rock and stood in the center of the clearing, looking over at Sunheart first. He thought a moment, hesitating whether he should have the deputy accompany him or not. Whether he did or did not, he was definitely going to have Preemptivepaw join. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have the both of them. But instead of deciding himself, he would let them determine who would go. "Who wishes to accompany me to visit the other clans?"

"I can go, unless you would rather that I stay behind" Sunheart said, padding up. He looked down at Preemptivepaw, then back up at Lightningstar, "if I go, I can watch over Preemptivepaw so that she can come." It was his duty, being her mentor, and he thought it would be a good experience for her.

Lightningstar looked at the cats around him, nodding towards Sunheart and Preemptivepaw. "I want you two to come. No, Jade, I'm afraid not. It's much too dangerous for you yet." He added, turning to the cub. Now we need maybe one or two more. Flashy thought silently, letting his amber gaze travel over the group of cats.

Clippedpaw gave a grin at Sunheart, however his heart lurched with frustration and resent at yet another cat being in his way for him to become the top. Then he heard of the medicine cat bit. He'd hate to be medicine cat. It'd be such a boring life. Hopefully Starclan didn't push him in that direction. He'd be so bored. Still Clippedpaw kept these to himself as he spoke up finally, "It'd be fine for me to come right Lightningstar?"

The orange tom glanced over at Clippedpaw, staring at him a moment as if he hadn't processed what the tom had asked. He nodded. For the sake of the lacking in warriors, Clippedpaw would have to do. But of course, one more warrior would have to be it, otherwise Lightningstar didn't think it'd be a very good idea to go on with four cats.

The tom-cat of the rare calico color grinned with arrogance, but also other feelings that were much more pleasant. The apprentice had a large sense of loyalty of clan and would do as he was told on this task that he was apart of. Clippedpaw was definitely satisfied if not ecstatic about this.
