The black tom walked silently through the forest, searching for any sign of life. He hadn't seen any prey or cats in the last moon. Maybe he wasn't looking hard enough. His amber eyes were alert yet exhausted. He parted his jaws in a yawn as he continued walking. He eventually came across a small stream. He raced towards it and shoved his head in. He chugged the water until he wasn't sure if there would be any stream left. Then he noticed a strange stone beside him, half black and half gray. He looked at it carefully, his eyes analyzing its every detail. He wondered if any cats lived near by.

Whisper emerged from the bushes gracefully. She had been watching the cat for a while. "Well, well," she meowed, her blue eyes cold, "seems you have found us. State your name and business." She glared at the tom. Normally she was very nice, but this cat could be from the clans. She was never nice to clan cats.
Blackheart slid out of the bushes and stood beside the royal. He smiled at the tom, showing his pointed teeth. If this cat was hostile, it would be Blackheart's job to execute him.

The tom looked at the she-cat. "I am Nightmare," he stated. "Who are you?"

Whisper swished her tail angrily. "Nightmare," she hissed, "what is your business here?"

Nightmare looked at her coldly. "Why does it matter?" He didn't like sharing information with other cats. He had told her his name, why did she need to know his 'business'?

Whisper hesitated slightly before saying, "because if you don't tell us, then Blackheart will have to kill you."

"Uh, my 'business' is just walking through the forest. What's YOUR business?" he meowed angrily.

"My business is none of your business!" the royal snarled. This cat was frustrating. Maybe she should just let Blackheart execute him... No, he could be valuable... She started wondering if she should tell him about the clan... "Where are you from?" She asked, still worried that he could be a clan cat.

Chrysanthemum walked into the clearing a bundle of herbs in her mouth, which she dropped when she saw the stranger. "Whisper, is this cat bothering you?" She asked, glaring suspiciously at the newcomer.

Whisper turned to the flower, relieved to have more back up. "That depends," she mewed before turning to the tom, "are you from the clans?"
Blackheart unsheathed his claws. It had been moons since his last execution.

Chrysanthemum noticed as Blackheart unsheath his claws. Really? she thought. For all we know this cat may not be from the clans. But blackheart was a shade, so naturally he wanted a fight (whispey it's time to weave!!!)

(Yup) Noticing Chrysanthemum's disapproving look, Blackheart sheathed his claws quickly. He didn't know why, but he didn't want her to think of him as a cold hearted killer. Even if that's what he was.

Chrysanthemum smiled as she saw Blackheart slide his claws in. Good she thought. wouldn't want to scare away or kill potential recruits.

Blackheart glanced quickly at the flower. Good. She didn't seem to hate him. He smiled faintly, which he almost never did. Something about Chrysanthemum just made him feel happy and light.

Chrysanthemum turned her attention to how the silent standoff was going. Whisper was still waiting for the new cat to answer her. Blackheart was standing to the side, ready to pounce, smiling...... wait.... smiling? Blackheart's smiling. I never would've believed it. Chrysanthemum thought.
