the lioness glare at the tom, studying his face to see if there was anything to make it seem that he was lying. "very well. swear your loyalty and i can accept you. but i'll keep an eye on you, so don't act up," she hissed. she didn't like this tom but she'd give him another try.

Timepaw was confused as well, who was this tom, and how did he know Maplecandy. Sure she seemed to have lead a loner life before she joined, but it sounded like the tom had been here to Riverclan before.

"i wouldn't put it past him," she growled in reply. she hadn't liked the tom snooping around but she had the good sense to know he would be better as an ally. besides she could always exile him if he proved to be disloyal.
