The dark gray tom padded through the forest. For years, he had lived just outside of clan territory, watching the cats hunt and patrol and train. Now, he decided he wanted to join them. After a few minutes of walking, he reached RiverClan territory. He sat down with his tail curled around his paws, waiting patiently for a patrol. His icy blue eyes scanned the trees for cats, but there were none, so he just waited.

Rainstorm was on patrol when he saw the tom. "Name and business?" he asked coldly.

"Aren't you nice," he muttered sarcastically. "My name is Shadow. My business is joining." He looked at the tom calmly.

Shadow snorted. "ok, well get them out here. I haven't got all day. Who is the leader now? Maplecandy? Get her," he mewed impatiently.

"Ah. Let me go find her." The dark gray tom rushed off to camp. "Maplecandy! Timepaw! Angelpaw! Joiner here!"

Shadow sighed. The tom didn't seem to notice how he had cleverly avoided the question. He actually had been inside RiverClan territory. Many times. It was true that Maplecandy came out of the clan territory, but that was before she became leader. He had- observed- the clan to find out about her new position.

angelpaw had been sniffing around for herbs when she'd overheard the conversation. just at her summons, she appeared. poor nighty had forgotten how important ann was, and how she actually had the ability to accept cats. but meanwhile, back in the clan, nighty was laughing her butt off. She once again had found a character-a tom at that! whom she enjoyed listening to their sarcastic, rude, remarkable humor. why must this keep happening? she asked herself. oh, she didn't know. anywho, angelpaw padded from the bushes, leaving her herb bundle unattended. oh, how funny. she was supposedly alone with the joiner. "rainstorm!" she huffed. "that tom. with all that shouting, you'd think he would scare all the prey away." she rolled her eyes.

Timepaw too padded up. "Taking care of official business, Angelpaw?" He teased her quietly. The Shaman apprentice looked at Shadow, waiting for a reply.

"you!" the growl rose in the lioness' throat like thunder. she turned to her shaman apprentices. "don't accept him. he is not to be trusted," maplecandy ordered. she strode forward so she was a mere foot away from the smaller feline. "i thought i told that if you came back, we would attack. and then you show up wishing to join! the nerve! explain yourself!" she spat, glaring down at the tom.

He shrugged. "I felt bad," he mewed simply, "and I was actually kind of jealous of you," he added with a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
