Gold led his patrol to a small river surrounded by trees. "Not to worry you, but recently, a cat has gone missing, so stay close," he mewed before sniffing the air. He caught a whiff of squirrel and bounded away. He made sure to stay close to the group. A few seconds later, he reappeared with the catch dangling from his jaws.

( Hey! How offensive, catching a thrush!) Shadedwillow looked down into the near by river. Her refection rippled along with the current. Small fish danced like twolegs lights that the put up on there nests when the weather turned cold in the rushing water. Shadedwillow knew she had to get hunting so she heaved herself up and padded into a near by clump of trees in search for a mouse, or perhaps a vole or squirrel.

[How do you know that it wasn't a reference to Thrushwing? It could have been a hint hint...]
Nighty was museless at the moment and went moble so she would post in awhile.

Gabriel nodded at Gold's words. His striking blue eyes scanned the brush around them, ears pricked and listening. A quiet rustling and a faint scent drifting on the breeze told him that there was prey nearby, he turned toward the bird, slipping through the undergrowth until it was in his field of vision. Crouching low, he leaped, quickly catching the bird between his paws and killing it with one swift bite. He uttered a quick 'thank you' under his breath before lifting his catch in his jaws and turning back to the patrol which he joined again. "Nice catch" he said to Gem.

[yesh and when i say hint hint, guess who appears? my best friend gabriel. c: and lilli, we're not hunting with gold, we're hunting with diamond XD]
gem smiled and nodded thanks to the tom. she set her prey down and kicked earth over it before disappearing once again, following the stream. her heavy paws thudded on the ground and the she-cat cursed at herself for being so bulky. she worked harder to control the weight and eventually made no sound at all. the only thing she could hear besides her breathing was the splashing of the water. turning her head into the direction of the stream, she noticed a fuzzy brown rodent sneaking around near the shore. slinking across the ground, the she-cat made sure that not even a hair touched the ground. nothing would come between her and this easy catch. she was almost there, a tail-length away from the prey. then, she pounced, and just as she landed atop of it, she not only heard a crack of it's spine, but she heard a rustle in the bushes which would have scared her prey away if she had not caught it sooner. narrowing her blue optics, she looked into the direction of the undergrowth, shaking her head. silently she said thanks before picking up her limp water vole and carrying it back to where she had left gabriel.

(Oops, and I almost had Gabriel compliment Thrushwing on a catch because you mentioned him earlier and I was like "he's totally on the patrol" XD. derp.)
He too hid his prey, and as Gem disappeared into the undergrowth in the direction of a nearby stream, Gabriel had targeted a tree nearby and scrambled up it, pulling himself up to a Y in the branches. One of it's limbs stretched out, almost touching that of another nearby tree, and on the other side of the small gap a squirrel sat, gnawing peacefully on a nut that it had probably stored through the winter. It was almost facing him, but at some rustling in the bushes below it turned toward the noise, leaving it's back exposed. Now came the challenge. The gentle breeze blew the rodents scent toward Gabriel, and as he moved forward he worked to stay both silent and well balanced. Stepping lightly over the gap between the branches, the one onto which he was stepping swayed, and the squirrel's attention was once again caught. Freezing, it's small black eyes stared at him, and the lithe tom's blue ones stared back. Then it turned and ran. Pelting after it, the tom was lucky not to slip and fall as he reached the inner part of the branch. Looking around, the squirrel began to scurry higher, but he was determined not to let it escape, and launched himself forward, grabbing onto a thick section of truck on which the small furry squirrel had been only moments before, and clawed his way up. Propelling himself forward and up, one of his brown paws landed on something that was not quite tree bark. Soft, with long hairs sticking out in every direction, he had stepped on it's tail. Desperately scrambling to escape, it pulled, almost freeing itself from his grasp, but he caught up quickly, and ended it's life. Gently picking up his caught, he descended back to the branch that extended over to the original tree he had climbed, and padded onto that one, eventually reaching it and climbing down. Gabriel exited the bushes separating the base of the tree from the path, and set his catch down, spotting Gem in the same place she had been with her last catch, now with a water vole.

Diamond stalked a bird that was perched in a tree. Diamond was just getting ready to climb up after it when it swooped, landing on the ground. She pounced and killed it with a bite to the neck. Then she saw a mouse, the reason the bird had come down from the safety of the tree, and quickly killed that too. She murmured thanks for her lucky catch and headed back to the others, satisfied.

Gold returned to the river with his prey in his jaws. He had caught a vole, 3 mice, a sparrow, and 2 squirrels. He placed his catch under a shady tree before seating himself next to the river. He stared down at the fish as the swirled through the water. Suddenly, he darted out a paw, scooped up a small fish, and plopped it on the ground beside him. He killed it swiftly before looking back at the river.

Diamond padded up to Gold, having finished up with a catch of 2 voles. "You caught a lot," she commented, impressed. She dropped her prey next to his, careful not to disturb any fish that her brother might be hunting.

(HA
yeah no XD) Gold looked deep into the water and saw a giant, shimmering fish. Making sure that his shadow didn't cross the water, he leaned over until his nose was right above the water. He carefully lifted his paw and struck quickly and quietly towards the fish. He felt his claws grasp the slimy body and in a heartbeat he had killed it. The fish looked even bigger now. It could easily feed 2-4 cats. Grinning triumphantly at his catch, he murmured a quick 'thank you' and walked away. He would let the other fish live. FOR NOW.

gemstone smiled and nodded to gabriel. "nice catches. we should go out hunting together sometime... and practice group hunting." she added at the last minute, not wanting to sound awkward.
