this is the end the alabaster feline was out collecting herbs, just like a normal day. she knew they were running low on stock, and she wanted to collect the last bits before leaf-fall. she picked out a few delicate flowers, marigold to be precise. her little legs grew tired as she trekked on, looking for any more herbs she could grab and take home. the gurgling of a nearby river hit her ears. she decided to take a break and hang out by the river for little bit before heading back home. and she figured she could find some water mint to take home as well. oh how pleased lightskies would be! hold your breath and count to ten she walked along the edge, looking for any of the precious herbs. she soon came to a rather muddy part of the riverbank, and carefully put her paw there. but no matter how careful, the mud was too slippery. her paw slipped out from under her, causing her to fall awkwardly on her shoulder. she let out a cry of pain, and used her back legs to try and scoot up the bank, away from the water. but her back legs slipped and her snowy white tail caught the water. a chill went up her spine, eyes widening. slowly, the river pulled her in. first her legs were consumed, then her belly, then up to her shoulders. she finally slipped deeper in, and she let out a cry, only for it to be muffled by a splash of water. feel the earth move and then she flailed her paws as the current swept her downstream. she fought back, scared to death. she wanted her daddy. she wanted him to come save her - to sweep her out of the water and tell her everything would be okay. but her daddy was no where in sight. he was probably too busy with the clan to be out on the territory, by the river. feel my heart burst again she was tossed under water, baby blue eyes staring up at the surface, seeing the blurry glob of yellow that used to be the sun. i'll never see it again, she thought, a pain shooting through her heart. she loved the sun. and come to think of it, she loved her clanmates. sure she was skittish around them, but she still would die for all of them. robinkit, decemberkit. they were the kittens she thought of as friends. she didn't want to leave them. and her mentor lightskies - she thought of her like a mother figure. and her father, evereststar. how she loved him. he would be the hardest for her to leave. and the skyfall her lungs burned like a fire was living inside her. she hit a shallow spot and scrambled towards the surface, her broken shoulder screaming in pain. she reached the surface, took a deep breath, and threw herself on shore. backlegs still in the water, she was breathing heavily. her eyes were blurred from beig under water for so long. she let a smile come upon her face when she saw the sun, and smelled the foresty air. she was a long way from where she started - only a pile of herbs and a small puddle of blood was left there. she saw a silhouette of a cat, and she smiled weakly. "tell my daddy I love him," she told it, before the wtare pulled her back in, hard. tossed around my the water, she hit her head hard and everything went black
--------------------------------
a few hours later, a snowy figure lay on the shore far away from home. her breathing was horse, and she was barely hanging onto consciousness. she didn't know what happened or who she was. so the beaten, and half - drowned creature got to shaky paws and walked on. snowpaw was no more.

"Snowpaw?" Lightskies trotted away from camp, her white fur moving lightly as she followed her apprentice's trail. She slowed as she came to a clump of marigold around which Snowpaw's scent lingered. Inspecting it carefully she saw that someone had picked some not to long ago. Moving forward Snowpaw's trail led her to the river. Perhaps she came to look for watermint and stayed to rest the deputy thought. However, as she neared the river and the scent trail stopped, a sense of dread filled her heart. She saw the mud, the blood, the little pile of herbs, sitting innocently nearby. No the she-cat scrambled forward, stopping at the edge of the mud patch. "Snowpaw!" She called, her eyes searching the surrounding forest. She was starting to panic. "Snowpaw?" She skirted the mud, and began moving down the riverbank. "Snowpaw, where are you?" Her gait elevated to a sprint, her eyes always on the water, and the forest floor around it. The pretty she-cat gasped for breath, and was forced to slow down. "Snowpaw! This- this isn't funny, come on!" But Lightskies knew her apprentice well, and she wasn't one to play jokes. This wasn't happening though, it was probably just a bad dream. She sunk into a crouch, staring at the water. Snowpaw couldn't be gone. The little she-cat had been like a daughter to Lightskies, and this wasn't what was supposed to happen. It's you fault she's gone said a little voice in the deputy's head, you let her go out on her own it reminded. "Shut up!" She said. Slowly she stood. Don't give up on her now she told herself. Yet, somehow, she knew there was no hope. She turned, and a tear rolled down her cheek as she padded away, moving toward camp. After a while she reached the little pile of herbs. The white cat scooped them up, putting them gently in a leaf warp. She would not use these to heal, they were all that was left of her apprentice.

no. no no no. the grey tom-cat plunged himself into the cold water, paddling furiously. this was not happening. he would wake up and the only cat he'd ever loved would be right there beside him, unharmed. his water-logged fur pulled him down but he kept swimming. a water slapped evereststar in the face and he coughed.the river was fighting him and he knew he would lose but he didn't care. maybe that would reunite him with his daughter. "snowpaw!" the gruff tom cried desperately.

Moon padded over as well, her beautiful features now sad. "Evereststar, please," she murmured.
