Jade looked at her and nodded, retreating back into the woods. "Lightningstar!" she called. "Maplestar is on the border!"

The deputy arrived, stopping only a few fox lengths away from the Riverclan leader. He nodded respectfully, before turning his head to look behind him. Lightningstar had hopefully heard the call.

and the ginger tom certainly did. upon the call of his name, the muscular tom arrived on the border, a formal look on his features. he wasn't really in a good mood today. "greetings, maplestar. what is your business here?"

Nightpaw sprinted over to join her mentor, grinning up at him. She then realized how unprofessional she must be appearing, and her grin disappeared as she turned her serious, yet respectful gaze to the RiverClan leader. Inside, she was screaming with excitement. The RiverClan leader?! How cool was that! She pushed the kit-like thought away. She was an apprentice now. She had responsibilities. Another surge of joy. She was an apprentice with responsibilities! She bit the inside of her cheek and all her cheerfulness slipped away, only a small, hidden remnant left in the back of her mind. Every once and a while she would remind herself that this was serious, all the while looking at Maplestar.

Nightpaw felt a sudden pang of sadness and helplessness. Huh. That was odd. She was actually very happy right now, for she might get to avenge her sister's capture. And she definitely wasn't helpless. She narrowed her green eyes as she thought, her head tilting ever so slightly, confusion showing upon her features.
