Lightskies looked carefully at Melody, she had obviously been taught some about herbs beforehand. "I'll only do two more" she said. "Dovekit, what part of a stinging nettle would I eat if I was poisoned, and why?" She asked.

"The seeds," Dovekit mewed after thinking for a moment. "And i don't know why they help," she admitted. Dovekit had grown up in the clan and didn't have much prior experience with herbs. "Do they make you vomit? That's usually what you do for poison..."

Lightskies smiled, "correct, even though you weren't sure what they did you used reasoning, good work" one more for Melody. "What is sweet-sedge, when does it grow, and what part of it do cats consume?" She asked.

Melody narrowed her eyes as she thought. Sweet-sedge. "Sweet sedge is..." she began, searching her mind. A foggy description appeared in the corner of her mind, "... it his long buds and thick stems." Sweet-sedge. Something about it sounded like a newleaf plant, but that didn't sound quite right. "It grows in... leaf-bare," she said, slightly hesitant but with a sense of trust in the words, "and it would help an infection if you consume the..." Sweet-sedge. Sweet-sedge sweet-sedge sweet-sedge. Sweet. Sweet. Sap was sweet. Her crystal clear blue eyes lit up. Of course, sap! "Sap!" she mewed excitedly, no worry left in her voice or her eyes.

"It can grow at other times of the year, however it does grow through leaf bare, unlike other herbs, it eases infection and the sap is consumed" she said. "Now, I'm going to give you an example of a situation and you would tell me how to best treat it" she said. "Dovekit, a cat is going on a long journey, what would you give them to help keep their strength up?" The deputy asked.

Melody remained calm even though the answer was tearing at her throat, willing her to speak its name. She swallowed, pushing it to the back of her mind and reviewing every other herb she knew for when it was her turn.

Dovekit mewed, "Burnet, right? Or chamomile? I think that daisy leaves are also a traveling herb..." she looked questioningly at the deputy. Dovekit was very impressed by Melody's herb knowledge.

"All correct" she said, "you can also give them sorrel, ragwort leaves, and ragweed if you can find it, though it usually doesn't grow here, however those are less common herbs to use" she said. She had come up with another scenario. "Melody, if someone got a poisonous bite, say a snake bite, what's that best way to try and draw the poison out of their body?" She asked.

She thought for a moment. "Snakeroot?" she mewed hopefully. She couldn't quite remember, but it sounded right. Snakeroot for a snake bite. Yeah.

"Snakeroot can be used, and Tormetil can be used as well" she said. "What herbs can be used to stop infetion from setting in?" she asked. Dovekit.
