Lightskies considered herself lucky to have stumbled upon this place on her way to Thunderclan's camp. The had made sure to remember the way there. She faced the two kits, "I'm going to present you each with an herb, and I'd like you to try and name it,and give me it's uses." She was trying to think of any other ways of testing the two of them. Melody seemed to have an advantage, seeing as she was already trained, however many new medicine cat apprentices new next to nothing about the herbs they were to deal with, so, though she was trying to find the extent of their knowledge, there were other things that were more important. Disappearing for a moment, she searched the area around the clearing for any herbs she could find. She found a few plants, and harvested them. Returning, she set them down, hurriedly arranging the small portions she had gathered. Picking something up, she carried it over to Melody and set it down. The item was a dark green leaf, the edges were serrated, though if you looked on the underside, you would see a thin line of undeveloped spines. The leaf was line, where it's material dipped down to form several of this lines, running parallel down the leaf on either side.

Melody thought for a moment, and finally, she mewed calmly, "I'm sorry, I don't know. " Her cheeks felt hot as she replied. (I thought ahe should miss one- and sorry it took me so long- I was at the beach)

Dovekit glanced at Melody, surprised that there was something that her friend didn't know.

Dovekit thought for a moment, staring intently at the herb. She shook her head, embarrassed.

Melody felt a bit better now. She flashed Dovekit a supportive smile.

Melody inhaled deeply, and when she exhaled, her breath shook ever so slightly. She squeezed her eyes shut before opening them, fixing her careful blue gaze on Lightskies.

"This is a blackberry leaf" she said, "They are used to help lower swellings caused mainly by bee stings." Picking up another herb, she now showed it to Dovekit. It was a fuzzy stem, with rounded leaves, that held irregular notches in their sides. Farther up the stem was a pretty blue flower, with a white and purple center. The blue petals were curled back ever so slightly, and the flower hung slightly, so that the purple pistil and stamen pointed toward the ground. A few fuzzy buds surrounded the flower, dark reddish violet in color, with light stripes.

Dovekit stared at it for a moment, and finally it came to her. "Borage leaves. They help queens make milk for their kits."

"Correct, it is Borage, and it can also help bring down fevers" she said. She set something down in front of Melody now. She had found the chickweed on the way, and stashed in case she came back. No she put the stem of chickweed in front of Melody. The plant was common to slightly more open areas than this, and it as a lucky find.

Melody blinked. Something about the herb SEEMED familiar, but she couldn't quite tell. She was cluless, but too stubborn to admit it. She thought for a long moment before she had a faint realization. "Ch..." she mrmured, "chickweed. It helps cure a cough."

Melody looked to Lightskies, hoping she was right, but still remaining calm, and her sapphire eyes were kind and expectant.
